You’ve probably started to think about spring-cleaning your home if you are a decor enthusiast. With the arrival of spring and its beautiful blooms, it’s time to get rid of your winter home staples such as dark colours, plush throws and flannel bedding. Finally, it’s time to brighten up and lighten things!
For your benefit, I spoke with interior designers about the top spring trends in 2025. This list is full of inspiration for seasonal home improvements. From inviting outdoor spaces to pretty shades of green, lilac and purple, this list has it all. Don’t forget your spring cleaning list while you’re at the same time!
1. Neutrals with a Pop Color
Are you not a fan? Liz Curry, designer at Liz Curry Studio, says that bright colours can be used in small amounts to make a statement. Mixing colour with neutrals creates a sophisticated and whimsical environment. In 2025, we will see a splash of colour to create a bolder appearance.
2. Fluid Patterns
Marie Cloud, designer at Indigo Pruitt, is thrilled about the return to organic design. Cloud suggests that “think fluid patterns, hand-formed textures and nature-inspired shapes to add depth and character to a room.” Cloud says that furniture and decorative accents will feature more free-flowing shapes and wavy detailing rather than rigid lines or uniformity. She adds, “It is all about embracing an easy-going and beautiful lifestyle this season.”
3. Shades of Green
This season, vibrant hues will be all around. Sarah Storms, Styled by Storms, says that you can expect to see all shades of green – from chartreuse to dark hunter. Green is a colour that is not going anywhere.
4. Retro-Inspired Accents
It’s true; what was old is now new. Designer Erin Lamey of Lobello Design predicts a revival of retro-inspired furniture layered with antiques to add personality to interiors. “Retro revival is all about bold colours, sculptural furniture and playful patterns–reinterpreting iconic styles with a fresh perspective,” says Lamey. We like to go a step beyond by sourcing vintage items that are authentic and transcend trends.
5. Personalize your home with Personalized Touches
It can be as simple as adding thoughtful accents. Bria Hammel of Bria Hammel Interiors says that this spring, it’s about adding small personalized touches to make a huge impact in your home. These little details, from custom cushions on a bar stool to hand-picked knobs in cabinets, add character and charm to a space. This is a great way to update your home without having to do a major remodel. Just a few thoughtful changes can transform everyday items into unique statement pieces.
6. Organic Textures
Sarah Storms, designer at Styled by Storms, says that “live teak roots coffee tables or seagrass framed mirrors are excellent ways to add natural and interesting furniture to your home.” The addition of layers of texture will always make a room feel more inviting and lived in. Storms says that “the instant warmth that this texture brings is something that cannot be matched.”
7. Elevated Outdoor Entertaining
The spring is a great time to revamp your outdoor space. Make it chic. If you’re considering an outdoor kitchen for your home, keep in mind that it can be used seven months of the year,” says Sarah Storms from Styled by Storms. She has worked with Sub-Zero appliances, Wolf appliances, and Cove appliances in her projects. When building your outdoor cooking space, consider both the aesthetics and the functionality. Outdoor entertaining spaces are a great way to spend more time with family and friends.
8. Hidden Spaces
Designer Lindsay Olson of Lulu Designs has observed that hidden storage and rooms are on trend. Olson explains that people want more out of their homes. Spring is the time to get your house in order.
9. Biophilic Design
Brad Ramsey of Brad Ramsey Interiors says, “Biophilic Design, or bringing nature indoors, will be a popular trend in spring.” Interiors will be filled with nature’s beauty, from lush greenery and large, airy windows to natural light. He adds that plants are not only used as decoration but also as design elements for mood improvement and better air quality.
10. Organic Curves
Lauren Lerner, designer at Living With Lolo, says that furniture with curves is the latest trend. Curves with organic forms can enhance a room and create a “soft, inviting” look. Try dining chairs or an accent table. Their fluid shapes bring comfort and renewal to a room, which makes them ideal for the growing season.
11. Wallpapered ceilings
The ceilings of a house are often overlooked. According to Kerith Flynn, a designer at Margali & Flynn Designs, wallpaper can add visual interest and depth. This creative approach uses earthy tones, patterns, and textures inspired by nature, such as botanical prints, stone textures, and organic shapes. Flynn chose Thibaut wallpaper made of real wood for this living room. This design choice helped our client take a bold risk, and it paid off beautifully.
12. Lilac
Jeanne Barber of Camden Grace Interiors says that lilac is no longer just for nursery rooms. It’s now being used in other places. “We are seeing lilac in a variety of spaces, like this project where lilac was used throughout the space to add a splash!”
13. Outdoor Rooms
Erika Ward, the designer at Erika Ward Interiors, loves welcoming outdoor spaces that mimic interior spaces. Ward says that these spaces blur the line between indoors and outside, incorporating plush seating, weather-resistant rugs, and stylish lighting to create an extension of the house. The use of durable materials and intelligent outdoor technology makes it possible to enjoy all the comforts and sophistications of an indoor living space under the open sky.
14. Bright and Bold Patterns
Colleen Bennett, designer at CBB Design Firm, believes that you can’t go wrong by incorporating fun patterns into your home, both indoors and outdoors, this spring. Bennett says, “We’re seeing a lot of bold, bright, large patterns, and greens are always big.” There are toile, florals, tassels, and beautiful trims. It’s a classic that always returns in spring.”
15. Mixing old and new
Expect to see rooms this season that seamlessly blend old with new. Mindy Kelson O’Connor of Melinda Kelson O’Connor Architecture and Interiors says that incorporating heirlooms, especially in older homes, is often the best way to make your house feel personal and bespoke. Re-using furniture not only helps the environment but also gives it a unique charm that is hard to replicate with just brand-new pieces. By juxtaposing these pieces with modern furnishings, artwork and fabrics, you can create a unique look that’s hard to duplicate in any other way.
